Altınbeşik Cave
A full-day tour into the Taurus Mountains, near the village of Ürünlü in the İbradı district. Altınbeşik Cave has the largest underground lake in Turkey and the third largest in the world; it was declared a national park in 1994. The cave has three levels and is 2,500 metres long in total, with about 200 metres open to visitors. The tour inside is by boat — crossing the underground lake, you see stalactites, stalagmites and white travertine formations. The cave is 450 metres above sea level and noticeably cool inside during the summer. The tour's second stop is the village of Sarıhacılar, home to the region's traditional 'buttoned houses', where stone and timber are joined without nails. The tour runs on Thursdays.
